Attention ZIL Stakers: Claim Your Rewards Before the Transition to Zilliqa 2.0

We've developed a workaround for Zilliqa 2.0 to assist users who are unable to claim their old staking rewards due to gas limits exceeding the current block capacity.

To check if you're affected: Try claiming your staking rewards on the current mainnet within the next 15 days. If transaction fails, Use a gas limit of 200,000 and the default/minimum gas price. If your transaction still fails with a gas limit of 200,000. Then, please contact us at: [email protected] .

As a small incentive, WithdrawStakeRewards transactions made after block #4,640,000 on the current mainnet will be eligible for a gas fee refund—calculated at the minimum gas price and limited to one transaction per delegator and SSN address.

More updates next week – stay tuned!

Zilliqa 2.0 – Weekly Progress Update:

The first full rehearsal of a Zilliqa 2.0 network launch has been successfully completed. Additional rehearsals for both the mainnet and testnet are scheduled for the upcoming weekend to further validate system readiness.

🗓 The release of version 0.9.0 has been rescheduled for this week following the discovery of issues during the migration to the new redb database. These are currently being addressed to ensure stability and performance.

🛡 The Hacken bug bounty program concludes today. Several new reports were submitted yesterday and are under active review by the security team. Relevant findings will be disclosed in accordance with our responsible disclosure process.

🧪 During extensive testing of reward claiming on Zillion, expensive Scilla transactions significantly impacted block production. As observed on the proto-mainnet, such transactions can lead to the temporary stalling of the network. This Scilla-related issue is a significant risk that directly affects the planned mainnet migration date.

⚠️ The current assessment is that the Zilliqa 2.0 mainnet launch may need to be postponed by one week unless a solution to this issue is implemented by the end of this week.

We appreciate the community's continued support and will provide further updates as progress continues.

Zilliqa 2.0 Weekly Progress Update - May 12th:

🧪 The resumed testing of reward claiming has confirmed that very large Scilla transactions can still lead to network stalls under specific conditions. This behaviour reinforces previous findings from testing on proto-mainnet, and extending the p2p timeout did not entirely fix the issue.

🔍 The core engineering team has identified several mitigation strategies to address the issue above. Each approach requires further validation through targeted testing to ensure network stability and performance.

📆 As a result, the Zilliqa 2.0 launch timeline has been adjusted and the launch will be postponed by around two weeks. We will share the updated block numbers at which the legacy testnet and mainnet will stop processing transactions soon.

We remain committed to a secure and stable rollout of Zilliqa 2.0 and thank you for your continued patience and support.

🔧 Zilliqa 2.0 Weekly Update - 20 May 2025

⚠️ The proto-mainnet experienced a stall last Friday due to the third-party stats agent running alongside validator nodes. Under high transaction volume, the agent caused CPU usage to spike to 100%, which disrupted block processing. The stats dashboard will be temporarily disabled on the proto-mainnet.

🔬 We are continuing to refine and test the handling of complex Scilla transactions that consume gas up to the block limit. Testing of large reward-claiming transactions on Zillion will resume once these improvements have been deployed.

🔐 Security enhancements have been implemented in the delegated staking contracts, based on findings from the recent Hacken bug bounty. These countermeasures are aimed at improving contract resilience and will be reviewed by Hacken in the coming days.

📢 Once the issue with large Scilla transactions has been resolved, we will announce—at least one week in advance—the block number at which the current mainnet will be stopped and migration to Zilliqa 2.0 will begin.

We appreciate the community’s continued support and will provide further updates as development progresses.
🔧 Scheduled Maintenance Notice – Zilliqa Infrastructure

We would like to inform the community, ecosystem partners and exchanges that scheduled maintenance will take place on Monday, 2nd June at 04:00 AM UTC. This maintenance involves upgrading the underlying infrastructure for Zilliqa 1.0 blockchain nodes deployed in GKE, as the current node pools are approaching end-of-support status.

🕒 Expected downtime: Approximately 12 hours

⚠️ Please note: This is an infrastructure-only upgrade. No changes will be made to the blockchain version.

We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates as the maintenance progresses. If you have any questions or require further details, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support.

Zilliqa 2.0 Weekly Update - May 28th, 2025

⚙️ Recent improvements have significantly strengthened the handling of large Scilla transactions that consume gas up to the block limit. While these transactions are now more robustly supported, they will inevitably lead to longer block times post-launch due to their complexity.

📊 The issue of nodes visible on the Zilstats dashboard being overwhelmed was traced to the Zilstats agent sending an excessive number of RPC requests. This has now been mitigated, and a new version of the agent has been released.

🧱 A recent hard fork has increased the amount of funds available to onboard new validators to the proto-mainnet.

🧪 The next testing focus will be on large reward-claiming transactions. Initial testing will be conducted internally, followed by community participation in public tests. Once this phase is successfully completed, we will announce the new launch date with a minimum of 10 days' notice.

Thank you for your continued support as we move steadily towards the Zilliqa 2.0 launch.

Zilliqa 2.0 is coming — and with it, a new era begins ⌛️

We’ve heard your questions and understand the excitement (and confusion) around the migration. To help everyone prepare with confidence, we’ve put together a detailed FAQ — in both text and audio format.

We want this to be a smooth journey for everyone — so dive in, get informed, and step into Zilliqa 2.0 with clarity and confidence. Read on —

1. Zilliqa 1.0 will conclude at block 4770087, which will also mark the beginning of the migration to Zilliqa 2.0.

2. We expect to reach block height 4770087 by 4 AM UTC on June 23.

3. The migration will be completed a few days after June 23, following which the Zilliqa 2.0 mainnet will launch. A separate announcement will be made at that time.

4. Users holding ZIL in non-custodial wallets (e.g., ZilPay, Zillet, Torch, Moonlet, Atomic, Ledger etc.) do not need to take any action.

5. Users staking ZIL in a non-custodial wallet will need to:

Unstake their ZIL
Transfer it to an EVM-compatible wallet
Stake again via the new staking portal

There is no deadline to migrate staked Zil. However, you will not earn any staking rewards if you don’t migrate to the new staking platform.

6. A separate announcement will be made when it's time to unstake and restake using the new staking portal. Step-by-step tutorials will also be provided to ensure a smooth migration for staked ZIL.

7. Ecosystem partners such as Plunderswap, Torch Wallet, and Moonlet are developing custom-built tools to simplify the migration of staked ZIL, making it possible to migrate with just a few clicks. Follow their socials for updates and release announcements.

8. During the migration to Zilliqa 2.0, the following frontends will be temporarily disabled:

X-Bridge
Zillion
Otterscan (DNS name only)
ZQ1 Faucet

These services will be re-enabled once the Zilliqa 2.0 mainnet is live.

9. All major exchanges are supporting the migration, which means users holding ZIL on exchanges do not need to take any action.

10. Exchanges will pause ZIL deposits and withdrawals before the migration begins. They will resume the services once the Zilliqa 2.0 mainnet is live and stable.

11. A countdown is live now at https://roadmap.zilliqa.com
