The Zilliqa infrastructure team has proposed an adjustment to staking rewards to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Zilliqa network.
This change will begin moving the network towards the long-term goal of zero inflation and is part of several consensus reward changes that align with the roadmap for the deployment of Zilliqa 2.0.
Reducing the inflation of ZIL fosters a healthier token economy for the Zilliqa network and improves the long-term outlook of its value within the ecosystem.

Zilliqa is poised to deploy a major upgrade with v9.2 on July 5th, 2023!
This upgrade brings a number of significant improvements to network performance and functionality, including enhanced interoperability between Scilla and EVM contracts for fungible tokens.
Other changes coming in v9.2 include various bug fixes and server-side optimisations, as well as expanded development platform support.

As previously announced, the planned mainnet upgrade to version 9.2.0 is currently underway. The transactions to the network would be stopped at block 2,994,670 and the network upgrade would begin from the block number 2,994,688 onwards.

A new Zilliqa Improvement Proposal (ZIP-21) has just been published, detailing how Zilliqa EVM can invoke fungible token contracts written in Scilla.
This means that ZRC-2 tokens can now appear as ERC-20 tokens to other contracts, bringing improved interoperability to the Zilliqa EVM network and allowing fungible tokens written in Scilla to be transacted as EVM-compatible tokens.
