The Olympic fire is ignited several months before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games at the site of the ancient Olympics in Olympia, Greece.

Eleven women, representing the Vestal Virgins, perform a celebration at the Temple of Hera in which the first torch of the Olympic Torch Relay is kindled by the light of the Sun, its rays concentrated by a parabolic mirror.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Olympic anthem is sung first followed by the national anthem of the country hosting the Olympics and the national anthem of Greece along with the hoisting of the flags.

"Freedom is a Dharmic value. Tyranny is a demonic value. A leader in any sector of governance – whether a president, governor, representative, mayor, or any other office holder – must seek always to ensure the maximal degree of decentralization of governmental authority; the maximal degree of localized governmental authority; the maximal reduction of bureaucracy and regulation; and the maximal degree of liberty and freedom for the citizens as is possible within, and not contradictory to, the jurisdictional and ethical principles of Dharma. Government, even under the best of circumstances, tends to be a burden upon all sectors of the population, and not a benefit. Thus, government is best when it is at its very smallest." - Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya (Principles of Perfect Leadership)

🌋 Indonesia’s Mount Ruang doling out some serious boltage!

Also known as a dirty thunderstorm, this spectacle occurs when the intense heat and updrafts from the volcano cause rapid rising of ash and rock particles. As these particles collide and bounce off of one another, they generate static charges, similar to the way friction works in a typical thunderstorm. The separation of positive and negative charges leads to some dramatic electrical discharges.

Aka volcanic lightning.

Mount Ruang is known for its dramatic and powerful eruptions, and has been observed to produce particularly intense dirty lightning storms. This phenomenon is attributed to the large amounts of ash and fine particles ejected into the atmosphere during some eruptions, which provide the ideal conditions for generating static electricity.

📕 Man and Technics: A Contribution to a Philosophy of Life (GermanDer Mensch und die Technik) is a 1931 book by Oswald Spengler, in which the author discusses a critique of technology and industrialism and uses the Nietzschean concept of the will to power to understand man's nature.

Building on his previous ideas in The Decline of the West, Spengler argues that many of the Western world's great achievements may soon become spectacles for our descendants to marvel at, as we do with the pyramids of Egypt or the baths of Rome.

He points in particular to the tendency of Western technology to spread to hostile "colored races" which would then use the weapons against the West.

In Spengler's view, western culture will be destroyed from within by materialism, and destroyed by others through economic competition and warfare

My friend grew up in New England where they have pigeons. Apparently they also hate them. He was always saying bad things about pigeons until I pointed something out that he never thought of before.

We domesticated pigeons. They are (nearly) all over the world because HUMANS BROUGHT THEM THERE. And, they were more than pets. They carried messages. People raced them. They lived spoiled lives as honored human companions for centuries.

Then we got telephones and we threw them out like trash.

Literally, we threw them away.

Their species had already been fully domesticated and they could not survive in the wild; they lost all their survival instincts during the centuries that they lived caged by people.

That is why they live in cities with people instead of in a forest somewhere. It's OUR fault. And not only did we throw them away, but now humans curse them as "winged rats;" casting them as pests.

An encounter with Will O’ The Wisp?

Last summer I went camping in Sherwood Forest with some friends. We didn’t camp in the public part of the forest, instead heading to a private section where we knew we’d not be bothered. I’m going to keep the full story for a video I’m making at the moment, but these flickering lights were right next to us before leading us away through the forest as they retreated backwards. This makes me think what we saw were Wisps. The atmospheric ghostly lights that lure travellers off the beaten track. And we were being led far from our camp, almost without thinking about it.

I took this picture, capturing one of them. I took a video too in which you can see it flickering like a flame, which I’ll add in my video.

It’s my belief that creatures from our folklore didn’t just vanish, but remain in certain remote parts of Britain.
