【Supporting Taiwan after train accident台灣加油】

The train crash happened in Taiwan on 2 April that killed 50 people and caused over 200 casualties has upset many Hong Kong people. Taiwan people has been standing with Hong Kong in the democratic movements for years.

JHK hopes to extend our deep condolences to the people of Taiwan and bless all the victims and their families to stay strong and calm. We encourage Hong Kongers to offer help in any ways. Below are two of the options.

上星期五（4月2日）發生的台鐵列車出軌意外，造成50人死亡及200多人受傷。事件牽動了很多香港人的情緒，以往無論哪裡發生天災或人禍，港人都會義不容辭地伸出援手，更何況是在光復香港的抗爭中一直與港人同行的台灣朋友們。

【持有BNO的在英港人注意！記得登記做選民✍🏻】

於今年五月，英國就會舉行地方選舉。根據英國法律，任何人仕只要符合以下條件，即有權登記成為選民並投票👇🏻

1. 英國、愛爾蘭及任何英聯邦國家的公民
2. 歐盟國家的國民（不可參與國會大選或公投，只可參與地區議會投票）
3. 年滿18歲（年滿16歲者可以預先登記成為選民，但沒有投票權）；居住在蘇格蘭或威爾斯的話，年滿16歲可以投票

簡單來說，持有BNO的在英港人，或是居英權二代，都可以在移居英國後登記成為選民！

登記手續非常簡單，一般只需要5分鐘。可以到英國政府網站🇬🇧 https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote 填寫個人資料，登記時需填上NI Number，若已有NI Number，登記手續會比較方便；若未有的話也可登記，不過之後要親身到居住的Council核實身份。

登記成為選民，是作為盡責的公民應當做的事。透過投票來捍衛自己權利，如提高最低工資或改善醫療保健服務；透過投票來影響自己關心的社區，或整個國家的未來決定。希望在英港人不要忘記民主從來得來不易，請好好把握每一次投票機會，來表達自己的聲音。

🔖FYI：登記做選民還可以提高個人信用評級（Credit Score），申請信用卡、借貸等更容易！

今年5月的地方選舉，選民登記將於四月十九日截止。大家快點登記成為選民吧！

今日（4月12日）開始英格蘭地區的非必需品商店、酒吧、餐廳等將可重新開門營業。大家係咪已經編排好緊密嘅購物行程或者打算到有提供戶外餐飲嘅酒吧食肆消遣？相較早前的解封措施，第二階段的鬆綁可說是讓民眾回復到更接近正常生活狀態。更重要的是期望隨著消費開支增加帶動整體經濟重回正軌。

不過近日歐洲多國疫情反覆，英國政府的緊急事態科學委員會（Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies，SAGE）亦警告疫情有可能隋解封措施出現反彈並於7、8月發展成第三波疫情。所以大家都係保持衛生經常洗手，並且維持適當嘅社交距離。

呼籲英國政府於詢問國籍時在現時建議使用的族裔選項中加入「英籍香港人」及「香港人」，使我們可以在英國真正表達自己所認同的身份和族裔。
 
其他英籍亞裔群體已經可以在族裔選項中選擇英籍印度人、英籍巴基斯坦人、英籍孟加拉人，因此，來自香港的英國公民以及英國國民海外護照持有人亦應該可以選擇「英籍香港人」。持有香港特區護照的香港人則應可以選擇「香港人」。
 
透過這次請願，我們希望指出選項下已經有「西藏人」、「維吾爾人」、「蒙古人」和「台灣人」，但是表單上並沒有「香港人」，令香港人只可以選擇「中國人」為其族裔。我們認為英國政府無需為了迎合中國政府立場而不加入「香港人」選項，所以我們希望促請英國政府加入「英籍香港人」及「香港人」選項，理由是香港人所持有的是香港特區護照而非中國護照，所以兩者應予區分。故此，我們希望大家簽署以下請願書支持我們香港人：

“Call on the government to add 'British Hong Konger' and 'Hong Konger' as options for the ethnic groups recommended for use by the government when asking for someone’s ethnicity. This is how we see ourselves and our identity and ethnicity in Britain.

Other British Asian ethnic groups have options to select as British Indian, British Pakistani, British Bangladeshi. Therefore British Citizens from Hong Kong and British National Overseas (BNO) passport holders as British nationals should be able to select as British Hong Konger.

Hong Kongers holding HKSAR passport should be able to select their ethnicity as Hong Konger.”

With this petition, We would like to raise out the point that there are options for ‘Tibetans’, ‘Uyghurs’, ‘Mongolians’ and ‘Taiwanese’, however there is not an option of ‘Hong Konger’ in the list which would lead to Hong Kongers needing to choose ‘Chinese’ as their ethnicity. We believe that the UK government have no need to be taking a stance in flavour of the Chinese government by not having the option of ‘Hong Konger’ therefore we would like to urge the UK government to add ‘British Hong Konger' and 'Hong Konger' as options due to the fact that Hong Kongers holds HKSAR passport not a Chinese passport which already made the difference. Therefore, we would like you to support us, Hong Kongers, by signing this petition.

今天是英格蘭的國慶日，亦即是聖佐治節。聖佐治本身是一名羅馬騎兵軍官，並在1350年被愛德華三世定他為英格蘭的守護聖者。傳說中，聖佐治屠龍，並在過程中拯救了一名公主。

見到這件事的一眾村民都被聖佐治感動到，使他們放棄異教，改信天主。雖然這只屬傳說，但是龍在中古時期是代表惡魔，所以這個傳說有它自己獨特的象徵意義。

Today is St George’s Day which is often regarded as the national day of England. St George was a high-ranking officer in the Roman Army and was made the patron saint of England by King Edward III in 1350.

Legend has it that St George slayed a dragon and saved a princess from being sacrificed, which in turn inspired the villagers to abandon paganism to believe in God. While this is more than likely to be fiction, the dragon was commonly a representation of the devil, making the story highly symbolic. Happy St George’s Day!
