Following June 4th becoming a sensitive day in Hong Kong, HongKongers in Leeds gathered on the lawn of Park Square for our annual candlelight vigil. This year, as in previous years, the vigil commemorated those who died fighting for democracy and freedom. Many attendees brought their children, ensuring the memory of the struggle is passed on.

Encouragingly, local supporters also joined the vigil, demonstrating Hong Kong is not alone in its pursuit of democracy. This unified spirit strengthens the resolve to continue the fight for democracy until the fall of the CCP.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated and donated. All ten copies of "The Little Candle" were sold, with proceeds benefiting Sheffield Re-Water. Donations from the miniature Pillar of Shame and the Goddess of Democracy statue, along with individual contributions, totaled £415 and 100 Hong Kong Dollars. This entire amount will be donated to Bonham Tree Aid.

With numerous demonstrations and commemorative activities planned for June, we hope for continued enthusiastic participation of all Hong Kongers. Thank you all.

In 2019, the Hong Kong government ignored opposition voices and tried to pass the "Extradition Bill." Even worse, it allowed the police to violently oppress the citizens.

Hongkongers stood up and resisted!

We once took to the streets; we once confronted police brutality. But with the implementation of the National Security Law, many Hongkongers chose to leave their homeland, scattering across the world to protect themselves or to preserve the truth. We extended the battlefield internationally, hoping democratic countries would join in resisting tyranny.

Five years have passed, the suppression has never stopped, but we have never stood still.

We hope...
The efforts of Hongkongers in fighting for democracy and freedom shall never be in vain.

We hope...
The sacrifices of our brothers and sisters lead us to a brighter path.

We hope...
Hong Kong will be liberated, and everyone will meet again under the Lion Rock.

We hope...
The revolution of our times, and the contributions of our brothers and sisters, will never be forgotten.

"Hope" is the theme for the 5th anniversary of the revolution of our times, a reflection of our hopes and expectations. We hope everyone not only remembers the events of these five years but also looks forward to the future and envisions the restoration of Hong Kong.

See you on 612!

Five years ago, protesters gathered at the Hong Kong LegCo building, despite facing police brutality, to stop the second reading of the Extradition Bill.

Five years later, Hongkongers are scattered across the world. Even though we are in foreign lands, we have not forgotten our cause and continue to speak up for Hong Kong.

Today, over a hundred Hongkongers gathered in the city center of Leeds to reflect on the trauma we have endured over the past five years and to listen to the stories of our imprisoned brothers and sisters and their families.

More importantly, we envision a free Hong Kong together and used chalk to draw these visions in Leeds city center.

"Hold on to our dreams, we will persist."

On this fifth anniversary of the 2019 protest in Hong Kong, we hope Hongkongers remember our struggle over the past five years, remain steadfast in our vision of liberating Hong Kong, and take steps to realize this vision.

We hope... Hongkongers still hold on to our dreams of liberating Hong Kong.
We hope... Hongkongers will never give up.
We hope... Hongkongers can reunite at home one day.
