Why do people forget that Elena and little baby Gilbert created a mass genocide by killing Kol.
Like WTH, thousands of people were turned into vampires against their will and their first thought wasn’t oh let me murder millions of people because I can’t handle being a vampire!
Like what? They hate on female characters in the fandom for being selfish but if sentencing millions of people to their death because you can’t handle being a vampire isn’t selfish then I don’t know what is.

Rewatch Thoughts: Katherine’s Hold Over Her Puppets?
So I just started rewatching The Vampire Diaries, and now I’m wondering: in Season 1, Damon was basically compelling Caroline to come save him like a puppet when Stevan locked him away. Do you think Katherine did the same thing with Damon, Stefan, and the others calling them so they’d try to save her or was it more like everyone she turned ended up trauma-bonded to her?

The black person dies first trope: I counted how many
So we all know how the majority of black characters on the show are killed off, TVD’s own version of the horror movie trope if you will. There was some discussion on this sub a couple months ago about this and I actually wanted to see how many black characters or side characters on the show survived or died, so on my last watch I made a list.
Of that list, 9 black characters survived and the rest of the 29 were killed, which means 76% of black characters on the show were killed off. The nine who survived are:
1. Tiki*
2. Her grandpa*
3. Lucy Bennet, Bonnie’s cousin
4. The nurse at the hospital where Caroline stays after the car accident*
5. Abby Bennett
6. Jamie
7. The girl who Caroline compels to go get ice but crosses the anti-magic border*
8. Beatrice
9. Dorian*
The asterisks are dark-skinned black people and that count is a lot higher in the people who died category. The colorism was very obvious too.
I kept count of this out of curiosity and posted it since it’s very interesting and thought some in this sub might think the same. Now, I didn’t count every single black actor who crossed the screen. If they were just there for a very short moment and/or didn’t contribute much to the scene at all I left them out. Like the garbage man that Rose kills when she’s delirious from the wold bite or the coat check woman Enzo seduces to get information about where Bonnie and Damon went after the other side went away. It made keeping count a lot easier and felt more accurate. I have a list of the other 29 who were killed which is obviously much longer so decided not to include it. I did include Bonnie on that list since she was killed so many times.
I didn’t think to do the same thing with Asian characters for a while since there were hardly any, but eventually at some point I started taking stock as they showed up and if I got it right, 4 out of the 4 Asian characters were killed on the show too. It’s possible I missed some though:

Anna
Ivy
Oscar
This isn’t some big post to complain. We see who the show kills off more than others and obviously it says a _lot_, but I did want to post the results I found for the record at least. I’m going to go ahead and say right now if “whining about racism” is not your thing this post is not for you people. Anyone else is welcome to comment or discuss

Elena hate
Y’all do know that majority of the Elena hate comes from bad writing right?. Nobody (at least not me) is hating her because she’s a female or because she gets attention. We’re hating her because of the writing itself. Her character to me is very contradicting and very inconsistent and so on, and if YOU!!🫵🏾can see past that and be okay with her character that’s you not me lol. And since she is the main female lead it’s gonna be frustrating to watch because she’s always in our faces 24/7.
When you have the writers telling you through other characters how compassionate, empathetic, loving sister and how selfless she is it’s gets frustrating to see her character contradict that. The writers are not good when it comes to showing they’re all about telling and from what I’ve seen Elena character traits are superficial imo lol. The literal devil made it seem like Elena never did anything wrong in her life and that is wrong lol. Do you see why that can be frustrating and why people would not click with her character? Because you have all these people telling you without showing you. And I’m not saying she didn’t have good moments she did but when you have a character you don’t like the bad is gonna outweigh way the good. But I have no problem of saying when she did good I’m not that much of a hater lol.
But anyways to her fans that feel we should not hate her because she was 18 and because she lost people in her life and because you feel she was innocent. Please recognize that people are not gonna spare Elena just because YOU feel she shouldn’t get hate because of her age and because she lost people, we are empathetic towards Elena because she was young and lost people but that does not stop anything or any criticism ,it might stop it from you but we are all different. And that does not stop y’all from hating other characters even though they lost people and they were young so please stop being so hypocritical. We understand you don’t get the Elena hate , we understand you hate people who hate her because you feel she didn’t do anything wrong it’s okay but it doesn’t change anything. We are not misogynistic so please for the love of god stop saying we’re are whenever we say something negative about Elena because Bonnie fans and Caroline fans aren’t calling y’all names when y’all hate them. Y’all are literally so sensitive to Elena it’s getting weird because people are allowed to hate any character for whatever ever reason they want. You might not like the reason and it’s okay but it doesn’t change the persons mind. But I just ask of y’all to stop the name calling and stop being so damn hypocritical and double standard and please stop telling us to stop watching the show because we hate her (were not). Because the way I see it if you want us to stop hating Elena and feel we’re misogynistic because we hate her you should not be hating any female characters because why are we misogynistic but your free to hate any other female character?. It gives double standard and hypocritical. So please stop.
I feel so bad for the people that get upset at people for hating their favorite character. I mean I can get being upset at the amount of hate posts but getting mad that people hate who you like is weird. It’s like me getting upset at people for hating Stefan and Bonnie. While I do debate/ disagree with people if they’re wrong about something regarding them but I don’t get upset at people for disliking them lol.
But anyways I’m sorry for the long rant I just needed to let that out because I’m seeing too much. Hopefully the tone of text doesn’t sound harsh or mean. I don’t mean to be harsh or mean I was justing getting a thought out lol. And I know majority is not gonna like this one bit but oh well what can I do 🤭.
