The advice from OP is not all bad but a couple of pointers:

1. Cottrell uses steroids.
Certain ways of training won’t apply to you when you’re natural. Naturals need more frequent stimulation as they rely more heavily on local
hypertrophic signaling (~48 hours)

Once you’re past beginner phase, keep training your arms at least 2x per week.
Reducing frequency to 1x per week is sub optimal for naturals.

2. Instead of dropping frequency, increase load and maintain intensity; aim for sets that bring you within 0–2 reps of failure in the 4–8 rep range preferably.
