St. Philip was among the first seven deacons of the Church who were personally chosen by the apostles. He converted Samaria to the faith of Christ, including the famous sorcerer, Simon Magus. He may have possessed the gift of bilocation or translocation. In the Acts of the Apostles, he baptized the eunuch of Queen Candace of Ethiopia. The story says that he was able to catch-up with the running chariot of the eunuch.

OCTOBER 12: THE FIRST MARIAN APPARITION
Our Lady of the Pillar
---
According to tradition, St. James the Elder apostle went to Spain to evangelize the people there. He experienced exhaustion and discouragement. When he was in Zaragoza, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to him on top of a pillar made of jasper. This is considered as the first Marian apparition. However, the Blessed Mother was still alive during that time. So, some Mariologists say that this was more of a bilocation than an apparition.

I went to the parish fair over the weekend and found myself thinking whenever I bought anything: WOW! This stuff is expensive. I spent about $22 on 2 cones of ice cream, 9 oysters for my mom, a soda, and a couple chicken tenders. At the end of the weekend, my last purchase was an amazing deal buying something like 7-10 cookies for $3. Then I thought about it some more: It's actually not that expensive, even without the astonishingly affordable cookies! I drop $20 on donations many Sundays. At least this time, I got cookies, soda, ice cream, chicken, and oysters from my money!
