It's been 79 years since 45,000 Algerians were massacred during pro-independence protests by French colonial forces in Northern #Algeria.

On 8 May 1945, as the French celebrated the Allied victory over Nazi Germany at the end of World War II, tens of thousands of Algerians took to the streets in Setif, Guelma, Kherrata and other cities to peacefully claim Algeria’s independence, as #France had promised if they supported their fight against Nazism.
