The Black Knight satellite

ይህ ጣቢያ አምስት ታላላቅ የጠፈር ኤጀንሲዎች በጋራ ያቋቋሙት የጠፈር ምርምር ጣቢያ ሲሆን፤ እያንዳንዱ የጣቢያው ክፍል ከምድር በSpace Shuttle ተጭኖ ወደ ጠፈር ከተወሰደ በኋላ አዛው ጠፈር ላይ ተገጣጥሞ አሁን የያዘውን ቅርፅ ሊይዝ ችሏል። በዚህ መቹ ሰው ሰራሽ Low Earth Orbit ሳተላይት በውስጡ ብዙ ምርምሮች ይካሄዳል። እነዚህም፦ ማይክሮ ግራቪቲ፣ ስፔስ ኢንቫይሮሜንት ምርምር ላብራቶሪ፣ አስትሮ ባዮሎጂ፣ አስትሮኖሚ፣ ሜትሮሎጂ፣ ፊዚክስ እና ሌሎች ተዛማች ሳይንሶች ናቸው።

ጣቢያው በተጨማሪም ለጨረቃ እና ማርስ የሚያገለግሉ ስፔስ ክራፍቶችን እና በነዚሁ ፕላኔቶች ለረጅም ግዜ ተልዕኮ( long-duration missions) የሚያገለግሉ መሣሪያዎችን ይመረምራል፣ ይፈትሻል።

ሳተላይቱ በቅርብ ምህዋር 418Km እና በማዶ ምህዋር 422Km ከምድር ርቆ ምድርን በቀን 15.49 ግዜ በሚገርም ፍጥነት ማለትም 27,600Km በሰዓት በሆነ Orbital speed እየተምዘገዘገ ይዞራታል።

ይህ 440,725ኪ.ግ የሚመዝን ሳተላይት በውስጡ 101.3KPa ወይም 1atm. አትሞስፌሪክ ግፊት ያለው ሲሆን በውስጡም 79% ናይትሮጅን እና 21% ኦክስጅን በውስጡ ይዟል፤ ይህ ደሞ ምድር ላይ ካለው የአትሞስፌሪክ ግፊት እና የኦክስጅን-ናይትሮጅን ንፅፅር ጋር ተመሳሳይ ያደረገዋል፤ ይህ ደሞ ማንኛውም ሰው በዚህ ሳተላይት ውስጥ ያለምንም ተጨማሪ ኦክስጅን መኖር ያስችለዋል።

The pendulum clock was invented in 1656 by Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens. Huygens was inspired byinvestigations of pendulums by Galilei Galileo, beginning around 1602. Galileo discovered the key property that makes pendulums useful timekeepers: isochronism, which means that the
period of swing of a pendulum is approximately the same for different sized swings. Up until the 1930s, the pendulum clock was the world’s most accurate timekeeper, but they must be stationary to operate as any motion or accelerations will affect the motion of the pendulum, causing inaccuracies, and so they could never be used for portable devices. They are now out of date of course; we now have more accurate devices, though still using simple harmonic motion.

Halley’s Comet

We know that this has
appeared to us in the sky
every 75–76 years during
recorded history, right back
to the year 240 BC. It was
last visible in 1986 and is
next due in 2061. All the
planets go round the Sun in
the same direction. Halley’s
Comet goes the opposite
way round, and its orbit is
tilted at about 18° to that
of the planets. This strongly
suggests that it did not form
when the planets formed,
but passed by the Sun at a
later time close enough to
find itself captured by it.

A precise definition for the
atomic mass unit is that it is
one twelfth of the mass of an
isolated atom of carbon-12
(¹²C) at rest and in its ground
state. A simpler definition is
that it is the mass of a proton
or a neutron. It is equivalent
to 1.6 × 10−²⁷ kg.
The charge and mass of
electrons and protons
We know that the charge
on a proton is positive and
the charge on an electron
is negative. The mass of a
proton is 1 atomic mass unit
(1.6 × 10−²⁷ kg). The mass of
an electron is taken to be
1/1836 that of a proton.
