How does time fly? On a kite? Doesn’t seem fast but moves with the wind? Is time truly relative? As a kid, you’d sit for hours and it feels like hours, now you work for hours and it feels fast but yet incredibly tedious.
We’re officially a year old and we have loved every minute of it! So to help us look back at our year, here’s our anniversary edition of GETZ mag! We are eternally grateful for all the support you’ve shown us and our validating belief in the creative gods and goddesses (goes without saying small g) creating awesome stuff and doing their bit to make arts and life generally brighter for people!

What does it take to update art?
They say when an artform grows, it has successfully preserved an identity, a way of life, a way of thinking, and carried it into the future. Evolution, however, isn't something that happens once. It's constant and always shifting and changing.
In Ethiopia, this type of progress hasn't been witnessed. It is always at a place where only individuals push their art forward, usually without much support. While there is evolution, it isn't at a sustainable scale.
To see how far art has evolved in Ethiopia, we decided to take a look at artists doing their bit to uplift their respective sector and the creative industries in Ethiopia. This issue covers their thoughts and experiences on the matter.
