Anas رضي الله عنه:

There were two brothers in the days of the Prophet ﷺ One of them used to attend the Prophet's circle (to learn Qur'ān and record hadith) and the other used to earn their living.

Once the latter complained to the Prophet ﷺ against the former (for not earning his living). He ﷺ replied, "Perhaps you are being provided because of him".

"Disobeying the desires puts a servant in position that if he makes and oath by Allah in supplication (to receive anything) Allah will fulfill it. So he executes for him many folds more than the desires that he abandoned."

Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said :

"If you reflect on the seven that Allah will shade under the shade of his throne the day there's no shade except his shade; you'll find that they only reached that by disobeying their desires."

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ:

"When the deceased enters the grave, the sun is made to appear as if it is setting. He sits up, wipes his eyes and says: 'Let me pray'"

[Ibn Majah: 4272]

"Presenting the scene of sunset in the grave is a kind of trial that differentiates between a true believer and a so-called Muslim.
Continually performing prayers during life is very important, and an obligatory act. If one neglects them here, then it becomes very difficult to be successful in the examination in the grave.

Rubbing his eyes means he will think that he has slept for a long time and is late for the As prayer, so he hastens to perform the prayer as soon as possible to avoid more delay."
Abu Uthman al-Wa'idh:

"When I grew up, I wanted to marry but I [always] refused.
A woman came to me and said: 'O Abu Uthman! I love you with a love that left me with neither sleep nor rest. I ask you by the One who turns hearts and I take Him as an intercessor to you so that you marry me.'

I asked: Do you have a father?

She said: 'Yes.'

She called him, and I married her.

When I was alone with her, I saw that she was one-eyed, lame, deformed, so I said: O Allāh, praise comes back to you for what You've predestined for me!

My family members blamed me for marrying her, but I showed more kindness and generosity to her. Sometimes she kept me and stopped me from attending classes, and sometimes I boiled [with
anger], but I didn't show her anything, so I stayed for 15 years, and I have no more hope other than the fact that I've preserved what she felt in her heart towards me [i.e. I did not give her a chance to regret loving me]."

Imām Ibn Kathīr رحمه الله said:

"If they (men) transgress against their wives without justification, then Allāh , the Ever Most High, Most Great, is their Protector, and He will exert revenge on those who transgress against their wives and deal with them unjustly."

[تفسير ابن كثير ٤:٣٤]
Prophet ﷺ said: “When the devil was cast down to earth he said: “My Lord, since You have cast me down to earth and made me outcast so give me a house.”

Allāh replied: “Your house is the bathroom.”

The devil then asked for an assembly place and he was told that markets and crossroads were his assembly places.
He asked for food and was told that it was anything in which Allaah’s name is not mentioned.

On the request for a drink he was told that it was all intoxicating drinks.
He wanted a caller and was given a single-pipe.

He requested for a Qur'aan and was told it was poetry.

He asked for a book and was given tattoos.

He asked for narration and was given telling a lie.

He asked for messengers and was told that they were soothsayers (fortune tellers).

Lastly, he asked for traps and was told to use women.”

لا خير في زوج لا يأمر زوجته بالستر

There is no good in a husband that does not order his wife to cover

قيل: أين ذهب حياء النساء؟

It was said: "Where did women's modesty go?"

قالوا: ذهب يبحث عن غيرة الرجال!

They said: "It went searching for the men's gheerah!"
It is said about passionate love:

'He was drawn to love till he fell in it. When it took hold of him, he was unable.

He saw abyss and thought it was wave, when he went in it he was drowned.'

The mistake lies with the person, and he is responsible for his [own] destruction.

[Purification of the Heart & Soul | pg. 288]
You will not find a single Hadith, even a weak one, describing how Aisha رضي الله عنها looked.

This is how careful the Sahabah and Muslims were, about letting someone even imagine what their women looked like.

And now, men post pictures of their own wives and daughters. Or women post themselves online to thousands of strangers. How far we have strayed...

"If the Sahabiyat wore Niqab in an era when modesty and chastity were exceedingly high, why neglect it in times of blazing fitnah today."

“(Some scholars say): It’s not obligatory for her (wife) to serve him (husband).

And this opinion is weak.”

[Ibn Taymiyyah’s Fatawa (v. 2, pp. 234-235)]
Imām Ibn Al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Allāh has placed in the nature of a man an inclination towards a woman, just like the inclination of a thirsty person towards water and
that of a hungry person towards food, to the point that many people may be patient with food and drink, but not with women”

Sufyan ath-Thawri رحمه الله:

"A woman will pass by a man and he cannot restrain himself from looking at her lustfully although there is no benefit in it. What could be weaker than this?"

[Hilyat al-Awliya’: 7/68]
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

"It is reported that in Egypt, there was a man who would maintain the mosques, making the call to prayer, etc. He was, by all outward means, an obedient person and devout worshipper.

One day, as he usually would, he ascended the minaret to make the call to prayer. At the base of the minaret, there was a Christian woman standing. He saw her, and was seduced by her looks. So, he descended the minaret, went to her, and entered her home. She said to him: “Who are you, and what do you want?”

He replied: “I want you.”

She said: “Why?”

He said: “You have enslaved my eyes, and you have captured my heart.”

She said: “I will never answer your desire in a doubtful or suspicious manner.”

He said: “Ok, so, I will marry you, then.”

She said: “You are a Muslim, and I am a Christian. My father will never allow me to marry you.”

He said: “So, I will become a Christian.”

She said: “If you wish to do so, go ahead.“

So, the man became a Christian in order to marry this woman, and lived with the woman’s family in her house. Later on that day, however, he was on the roof of the house. He fell from the roof and died without even having enjoyed his new bride. So, he lost the woman, and he lost his religion.”

The Prophet ﷺ said:

Seek forgiveness

A man complained to Hasan al-Basri about drought.

So he said to him: Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.

Another man complained to him of poverty.

So he said to him: Pray to Allaah to forgive you.

Another man said to him: Pray to Allaah to bless me with a child.

He said: Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.

Another complained to him that his garden was dry.

He said to him: Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.

We asked him about that and he said: This is not my personal opinion.

For Allaah says:
Ask forgiveness from your Lord, Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver;

He’ll send rain to you in abundance.

And give you increase in wealth and children,
and bestow on you gardens
and bestow on you rivers.
