The Battle for Trivandrum | 2024 General Elections
As we approach the voting day, Trivandrum has the chance for having the toughest trigonal contest between INC, CPI & BJP.
As per the Nattuvarthamanam, the standing champion Sasi annan will probably win again. But all three candidates have their pros and cons; thereby making voters very confused as to who to vote.
Dr. Shasi Tharoor is the intellectual non-politician type candidate who has his own views regarding national issues and doesn't always toe the party line. He's probably the only good PM candidate in INC but he will never become PM because of the wretched nepotism of Gandhi family. He has won Trivandrum multiple times despite his own party workers working against him. The upside of him winning is he can speak fluent English and has got tooth within the parliament.
But there's a karakkambi that Shashi annan would contest in 2026 MLA elections, thereby vacating the MP post.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar is an educated techie who founded BPL Mobiles and is currently handling the ministries of State for Electronics and Information Technology as well as Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. A highly qualified candidate who never probably visited Trivandrum before 2024. The upside of him winning the election would be that Trivandrum/Kerala would get a lot of funding from Central Government cuz Rajeev is a favored guy of BJP. I have zero idea about his personality.
Pannyan Raveendran is the rare old communist that walks among the common people. Doesn't have any ego nor arrogance. A simple old man who would continue to uplift the poor. He has won Trivandrum in 2005. He might lose his share of votes because people are generally done with LDF. But I've seen him in real life and he genuinely feels like a good guy.
Objectively, it's beneficial for Trivandrum to vote for Rajeev Chandrasekhar given he's already a favored guy of BJP, thereby bringing more funding. Personally, I would vote for Shashi annan because the opposition needs a voice in the parliament.
Who do you think is the best candidate?

Doe Kerala autodrivers rock?
Hello people. I am a malayali who spent much of his life in Kerala. I have never had to ask auto drivers "how much?" I somehow almost always trusted them to be fair. But as soon as I left the state to other states - Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore - the local people would tell me to always ask before boarding.
Is it really that our auto drivers are fair? Or am I being biased because I am a local and they are less likely to fleece me? A few north Indians who I spoke to seemed to suggest that the auto charges here are fair.
Also, if they are fair now, will the introduction of Uber/Ola force them to charge higher?
*Do Kerala autorivers rock? - I should be more mindful with my typing
