Russian Army Captures Poltavka Amid Ukrainian Collapse, Advances Near Pokrovsk

On October 19, Ukrainian defenses along the Yanchur River in the Zaporozhye direction began to collapse with the Russian military taking over the key settlement of Poltavka.

The capture of Poltavka by the Vostok [East] Group of Forces was confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Other sources reported that Russian troops also took over Okhotnyche, located right to the north of the settlement along the Yanchur. In addition, the troops expanded their control around Malinivka, located to the south of Poltavka.

“The assault was complicated by the need to cross the river at several points along the front. But during a comprehensive fire strike on the enemy by aviation and artillery, as well as with the support of drone operators, the Far Eastern warriors liberated one of the largest settlements on the western bank of the Yanchur,” the Russian MoD said in a statement.

After Promising Visit To Russia, Syria’s Foreign Minister Says No Agreements Were Reached

Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani announced on October 18 that Damascus is holding extensive discussions with Russia to reassess earlier bilateral accords, while stressing that no new agreements have been finalized.

“There are no agreements at this time. We have not yet reached any new ones. The main point of any talks with Russia is to review the old agreements,” Shaibani said in an interview with the state-run Al-Ikhbariyah TV.

He noted that the talks include the status of Russian military bases in Syria. Two bases remain on the coast of the country: Hmeimim Air Base near the city of Jabelh and a naval facility at the port of Tartus.

“Russian bases in Syria are the subject of negotiations between Damascus and Moscow,” Shaibani added.

Israel Renews Strikes On Gaza To Defend Its Collaborators

Israel renewed strikes on the Gaza Strip on October 19 challenging a deal brokered by the United States earlier in the month after claiming that “Palestinian terror operatives” attacked its forces in the area of Rafah in the southern part of the enclave.

In a statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that the attack, which involved rocket-propelled grenades and two instances of sniper fire against Israeli troops, was “a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement,” vowing to “respond forcefully.”

The troops who came under attack had been operating on the eastern side of the Yellow Line – an area under IDF control in line with the ceasefire deal with Hamas – to destroy “terror infrastructure” in the area “in accordance with the agreement” with Hamas, the military added.

U.S. Hits Drug Submarine, Another Boat As Trump Extends Threats To Colombia

The United States military has struck a submarine and a boat which were allegedly sailing in the Caribbean with drugs on board as a part of its ongoing “counter narco-terror operation,” as President Donald Trump extended his threats to Colombia.

The strike on the “drug-carrying submarine” was announced on October 18 by Trump, who said that two men who survived had been repatriated to their home countries.

“It was my great honor to destroy a very large DRUG-CARRYING SUBMARINE that was navigating towards the United States on a well known narcotrafficking transit route. U.S. Intelligence confirmed this vessel was loaded up with mostly Fentanyl, and other illegal narcotics,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
