9mobile is now T2✅

9mobile, Nigeria’s telecommunications company, has rebranded to T2.

The unveiling took place on Friday at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos.

The change of name comes a year after LH Telecommunication Limited acquired a majority stake in the network provider.

This is the second time the company’s name will be changed, after it was rebranded from Etisalat to 9mobile in 2017.

WhatsApp is launching Writing Help. This is an AI feature that will, as the name implies, help you compose your messages. It will suggest text for you in various styles - professional, funny, or supportive. You can of course either select any suggestion or ignore it.

To use this, when writing a message in any one-on-one or group chat, tap the new pencil icon. Writing Help is built on Private Processing technology, which "allows you to leverage Meta AI to generate a response without Meta or WhatsApp ever reading your message or the suggested re-writes", the company promises.

Data consumption in Nigeria hits all-time high in July despite decline in subscriptions 🔺

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed that data consumption in the country hit an all-time high of 1.1 million terabytes in July 2025.

According to the latest industry statistics released by the Commission, the first milestone was hit in May, when 1.04 million terabytes was used.

The increase in consumption comes as more Nigerians move to higher generation of networks, 4G and 5G, leading to higher speed.
