Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, Brazil
Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, in northeastern Brazil, stretches across 593.75 square miles along 43 miles of coastline. It's bordered by the Itapecuru, Munim, Parnaíba, and Periá Rivers, as well as the São José Basin.
Most of the park features rolling sand dunes, the tallest between 32 and 65.6 feet, that cover about two-thirds of the area. The dunes have a layer of rock underneath that keeps water from draining, forming freshwater pools.
The park also has two oases, or "restingas," with unique coastal forests. Home to endangered species like the scarlet ibis and the neotropical otter, the park boasts over 110 bird species and 42 types of reptiles.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, spread over 4,250 square miles, is the world's largest salt flat. Made up of hexagonal salt formations, it’s a surreal landscape dotted with salt pyramids.
Despite harsh conditions, pink flamingos, ancient cacti, and rare hummingbirds call it home. From November to April, rains turn it into a shallow salt lake that perfectly mirrors the sky.
In the midst of this vastness is a unique hotel, built entirely of salt. While lacking electricity, it offers profound silence and stunning views. Nearby, you can find Laguna Colorada, with pink flamingos, and the blue-green Laguna Verde.
This otherworldly beauty was even featured as the planet Crait in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi.
