✞✞✞The Apostles Junia (Junias/ Julian) and Epaphroditus (Aphroditus)✞✞✞
=>Though the Holy Apostles and Disciples were 84 in number (12 Apostles and 72 Disciples), Saint Paul was the one that had his accounts written in detail in the Holy Bible. Granting some were mentioned at times by name, the whereabouts of more than half were not written [in the Holy Bible].
✞And for this reason, whether we like it or not, we must use additional texts (‘Awaled Mesaheft’). And that is because Christ had said, “Go ye therefore, and teach” to all the Apostles and Disciples.
✞And from the holy texts that have the lives of the Apostles, Zena Hawariat (The Chronicle of the Apostles) and Gedle Hawaryat (Acts/Accounts of the Apostles) take precedence. The Synaxarium also mentions them. Thence, the Holy Church commemorates today Saints Junias (Junia) and Aphroditus (Epaphroditus) from the 72 Disciples.
✞Both, after learning for 3 years under the tutelage of our Lord and receiving the Holy Spirit on Pentecost with their brethren - the Apostles, went around the world to minister the Gospel. And by the Synod of the Apostles, they were ordained as Bishops.
✞And in Asia Minor and Europe, when the Saints attracted thousands of souls to Life in their service, they also endured cruelty in thanksgiving. And they received from their Lord non-perishing Crowns of Life.
✞Particularly because St. Junia (Junias) had endured affliction with St. Paul, the Apostle has praised him in his 'Epistle to the Romans' (16:7). And as the Saint was very close with St. Andronicus, after he shrouded and buried him (whose departure was yesterday commemorated), Junia prayed to his Lord with tears. And the Lord reposed him the next day (meaning on this day).
✞✞✞May the God of the Saints grant us from the persistence and blessings of the Apostles.
✞✞✞Abune Tadewos of Tselalesh✞✞✞
✞✞✞Also on this day (Ginbot 23 - May 31) is commemorated the nativity of Abune Tadewos (Thaddaeus) of Tselalesh the honorable elder and martyr.
✞The Martyr-Saint was a native of Tselalesh (Zorere) (in present day Northern Shewa). His father was called Romanios and his mother was named Martha. His father was a priest and the uncle of the 13th and 14th century Saint Abune Tekle Haymanot. When the Saint was in the womb of his mother, there was severe famine in Tselalesh. And when he was born on Ginbot 23 (May 31) at midnight enveloped in light, the house was filled with blessing and rain fell for the surrounding populous and they seeded the grains that they were given from the Saint’s parents.
✞And on his 40th day after birth, on Hamle 2 (July 9), when he was baptized, all the seeds that were sown were found bearing fruit.
✞And when he was old enough to learn, he was given to the Archpriest Hiywot Bene thus grew up learning. Abune Tekle Haymanot then sent to him a message after teaching Metelomi when he was in Damot saying, “By the mercy of God and through your prayers, I have bore Metelomi through faith and raised him in virtues hence come with your sister hastily.” His sister was called Tebe Tsion. And she was married to the brother of Metelomi (the Governor of Damot) and had bore Abba Elias (Elijah). However, because she was in a quarrel with her husband, the Saint had them reconcile and he stayed serving Abune Tekle Haymanot for 9 years.
✞Then, when Abune Tekle Haymanot went to Abba Betselote Michael, the Saint left for Tselalesh. Thereafter, because the Emperor Yekuno Amlak had him summoned saying that he wanted him to be his advisor, he had him stay in the palace. And because Satan does not stop for wickedness, he killed a woman in charge of the drinks after he had made her smell something bad/poisonous. Then, when Abba Tadewos entered a river and prayed, she was raised from the dead.

✞The governor of the area at the time was named Meyut. And when the Saint stood before him after reaching there upon a gust of wind, shocked he asked, “Are you a heavenly angel or a kin to humans?” The Saint thence responded, “I am a kin to men.” He then taught the ruler about Christianity and healed his son who was possessed by a demon that caused him to fall upon fire and who was tormented by it. Seeing this, the governor believed and declared a decree so that the people would accept Christianity.
✞Thereafter, because he showed a miracle corresponding to the Apostle Thaddaeus where he had 25 camels pass through the eye of a needle, the son of Afjal - a wealthy man, said that it was a trick. However, because one of the camels stepped on him, he died. And on the third day after the entombment of Musa, the son of the wealthy man, the Saint gave his staff to Afjal saying, “After saying, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ Who raised Lazarus from the dead my son come rise’ drop this staff on his grave.” And when he did as instructed, Musa rose hastily.
✞And all the people seeing this believed. Subsequently, he renamed Musa as Moses, made him the Archpriest, built 12 churches, and returned with Abune Anorewos.
✞Then, the Saint was appointed as the Archpriest of Teslalesh after Abune Tekle Haymanot counseled with the Emperor. Later on, because Emperor Amde Seyon l was afflicted with lust and married his father’s mistress, the Saint went and rebuked him. And the wife of the Emperor, who was angered by this, had him thrown down a cliff into a deep gorge. The Saint was an elder of 120 years at that time of his martyrdom.
✞Then, a sent angel had Gebre Egziabher and Webit, who were kind people, burry the relics of the Saint in his cell and they testified in the reign of Emperor Dawit before the people about the covenant that the Saint had received.
✞Emperor Dawit had the Saint’s hagiography written and had the Saint’s body translocated to his city and placed it in an honorable place.
✞✞✞May the aid and blessing of the Saint indwell in us!!!

✝ትውልድ ሀገራቸው ጽላልሽ (ዞረሬ) ነው። አባታቸው ሮማንዮስ እናታቸው ማርታ ይባላሉ። አባታቸው ሮማንዮስ ቄስ ነው። የአቡነ ተክለ ሃይማኖት አጎት ናቸው።
በእናታቸው ማኅፀን ሳሉ በጽላልሽ ረሀብ ፀንቶ ነበር። እሳቸው ግንቦት ፳፫ ቀን በመንፈቀ ሌሊት በልብሰ ብርሃን ተጠቅልለው ተወለዱ። ቤታቸው በበረከት ተመላ። ለሀገሬው ዝናብ ዘንቦለት ህዝቡ ከፃድቁ እናትና አባት የተመፀወቱትን ከፍለው ዘሩ።
አቡነ ታዴዎስ በተወለዱ በ፵ ቀናቸው ሐምሌ ፪ ቀን ሲጠመቁ የተዘራው እህል አንድ ሳይቀር አፍርቶ ተገኝቷል።
ዕድሜአቸው ለትምህርት ሲደርስ ለሊቀ ካህናቱ ለሕይወት ብነ ሰጥተዋቸው ሲማሩ አደጉ። አቡነ ተክለ ሃይማኖት ዳሞት (ወላይታ) ተሻግረው መተሎሚን አስተምረው “በእግዚአብሔር ቸርነት በአንተ ፀሎት መተሎሚን በሃይማኖት ወልጄዋለሁ። በምግባር አሳድጌዋለሁና እህትህን ይዘህ በቶሎ ና፤” ብለው ላኩባቸው።
እህታቸው ትቤጽዮን ትባላለች። የመተሎሚን ወንድም ዝግናን አግብታ አባ ኤልሳዕን ወልዳለች። ከባሏ ተጣልታ ነበርና እሷን ከባሏ አስታርቀው እሳቸው አቡነ ተክለሃይማኖትን እያገለገሉ ፱ አመት ኖረዋል።
በኋላ አቡነ ተክለ ሃይማኖት ወደ አባ በጸሎተ ሚካኤል ሲሄዱ እሳቸውም ወደ ጽላልሽ ተመልሰው ስለነበር አፄ ይኩኖ አምላክ እንድትመክረኝ እንድትገስፀኝ ከቤቴ ተቀመጥ ብለው ከቤተመንግስት አስቀመጣቸው።
ሰይጣን ለፀብ ለምቀኝነት አያርፍምና ጠላ ቤቷን ክፉ የሚገድል ሽታ አሸተታትና ሞተች። አባ ታዴዎስ ወንዝ ገብተው ሲፀልዩ ሙቷ ተነሥታለች። ከዚህ በኋላ ውዳሴ ከንቱ ይሆንብኛል ብለው ወደ ደብረ ሊባኖስ ተመለሱ።
አቡነ ተክለሃይማኖት ወደ ጽጋጋ (ጅጅጋ) ሂድ አሏቸው። ለምን ቢሉ? አባ አኖሬዎስ ሄደው ሲያስተምሩ ያገሬው ሰዎች ደብድበው አስረዋቸው ነበርና እሳቸውን ለማሰወፈታት ነበር።
የአካባቢው ንጉስ መዩጥ ይባላል። በነፋስ ሰረገላ ተጭነው ሄደው ከፊቱ ወርደው ሲቆሙ ደንግጦ ከሰማይ መላእክት ነህ ወይስ ከሰው ወገን? ቢላቸው። እኔ ከሰው ወገን ነኝ አሉት። ክርስትናንም አስተማሩት ጋኔን ከእሳት ላይ ጥሎት ሲሰቃይ የሚኖር ልጅ ነበረው አድነውለታል።
ይህን አይቶ አምኖ ሕዝቡም እንዲያምኑና ክርስትናን እንዲቀበሉ አዋጅ ነገረ።
እንደ ሐዋርያው ታዴዎስ ፳፭ ግመል በመርፌ ቀዳዳ በተአምራት አሳልፈው በማሳየታቸው አፍጃል የሚባል ያንድ ባለጠጋ ልጅ በምትሐት እንደሚያደርጉት አድርጎ በመናገሩ ከግመሎቹ አንዲቱ ረግጣው ሞተ፤ ይህን ሙሳ የሚባል ልጅም በተቀበረ በሦስተኛው ቀን «አልዓዛርን ከሙታን በአስነሳው በኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ስም ልጄ ና ተነስ» ብለህ ይህንን መቋሚያዬን ወስደህ ከመቃብሩ ላይ አኑር ብለው በአፍጃል ሰጥተውት እንዳሉት ቢያደርግ አፈፍ ብሎ ተነስቷል።
ይህን አይተው ህዝቡ ሁሉ አምነዋል። ከዚህ በኋላ ሙሳን ሙሴ ብለው ሊቀ ካህናት አድርገው ፲፪ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት አሳንፀው አኖሬዎስን ይዘው ተመልሰዋል።
አቡነ ተክለሃይማኖትም ከንጉሱ ተማክረው ሊቀካህናት ዘጽላልሽ ብለው ሾመዋቸዋል።
ንጉስ ዓምደ ጽዮን ፍቅረ ዝሙት አድሮበት የአባቱን ቅምጥ ቢያገባት ሄደው ገሰፁት። በዚህ የተናደደች የንጉሱ ሚስት የኋሊት አሳስራ ከጥልቅ ገደል አሰጣለቻቸው።
በዚህ ጊዜ የመቶ ሃያ አመት አረጋዊ ነበሩ።
የታዘዘ መልአክ ገብረ እግዚአብሔርና ውቢት የተባሉ ደጋግ ሰዎችን አስነስቶ ስጋቸውን ወስደው ከበዓታቸው ቀብረው የተሰጣቸውንም ቃል ኪዳን በዳግማዊ አፄ ዳዊት ዘመን በህዝቡ ፊት መስክረዋል።
ንጉስ ዳዊትም ዜና ገድላቸውን አጽፈዋል፤ ስጋቸውንም ወደ ከተማቸው በክብር አፍልሰው በተቀደሰ ስፍራ አኑረውታል።
የጻድቁ አባታችን ረድኤት በረከት ይደርብን አሜን!!!

ዕድሜአቸው ለትምህርት ሲደርስ ለሊቀ ካህናቱ ለሕይወት ብነ ሰጥተዋቸው ሲማሩ አደጉ። አቡነ ተክለ ሃይማኖት ዳሞት (ወላይታ) ተሻግረው መተሎሚን አስተምረው “በእግዚአብሔር ቸርነት በአንተ ፀሎት መተሎሚን በሃይማኖት ወልጄዋለሁ። በምግባር አሳድጌዋለሁና እህትህን ይዘህ በቶሎ ና፤” ብለው ላኩባቸው።

*እሳትን አዝላ በብርድ ተንገላታለች::
*ለእኛ የሕይወት እንጀራን ተሸክማ እርሷ ተራበች::

✞✞✞ Our Lady the Virgin Saint Mary – Her Flight to and Entry into Egypt✞✞✞
=>The Queen of Heaven, the Empress over all creation, the Virgin Mary carrying her Divine Son fled and entered Egypt on this day.
✞ As written in the Gospel (Matt. 2:1-18), two years after the birth of our Lord came the Wise Men to Bethlehem, prostrated before Him, and presented gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
✞And when Herod heard that a King was born, he slaughtered 144,000 children. And by the instructions of St. Gabriel, our Lady, the Virgin Mary, carrying her only Divine Son, fled to Egypt on a donkey with Joseph and Salome having little ration.
✞And on this day, she entered Egypt after a journey filled with worry, suffering, hunger, thirst, grief, fatigue, sweat, and tears that started from Galilee.
✞The Theotokos (The Mother of God)
*Suffered in the cold while carrying Fire.
*Hungered while carrying for us the Bread of Life.
*Thirsted while carrying the Spring of Life.
*Was bare while carrying the Garb of Life.
*And was saddened while carrying the Joy of Life.
*The Mother of God hungered, thirsted, was bare, became exhausted, was saddened, wept, her foot bled, and she suffered.
✞ And for the person who can discern, this was all done for our salvation. Verily, while knowing this, anyone who does not give the Virgin Mary honor is only Satan. Even the beasts, plants, and rocks offer homage to the Mother of God.
✞Likewise, St. Joseph, the Elder, and St. Salome deserve honor upon honor as they had chosen to suffer along with the Theotokos, the Virgin Mary, and her beloved Good Son.
=>[So] why did our [Holy] Savior, Jesus Christ, fled? And why did He make His destinations Egypt and Ethiopia?
1. So that the prophecies would be fulfilled. Since it had been foretold that He would go to Egypt on a swift cloud. (Isa. 19:1, Hab. 3:7)
2. To fulfill the typology. As His ancestors, according to His flesh, like Abraham, Jacob (Israel), and Jeremiah had fled to Egypt.
3. So that he would eliminate the worship of idols from Egypt. (Isa. 19:1)
4. To consecrate the monasteries of Egypt and Ethiopia.
5. To indicate that His incarnation was real/true and not an illusion. Because if He had not become man, He would not have taken flight. And if Herod had found Him, he would not have killed Him. Because, without His will, His blood cannot be shed, and not before Friday (the day of the Crucifixion).
6. To bless flight and give to the martyrs, and
7. To redeem Adam’s flight by His.
✞✞✞May the Good Holy Savior evoke the flight of His Virgin Mother and keep us from fleeing from the Heavenly Kingdom. And may He grant us from the blessing of His flight.
